Science Award for SCM: Dr.-Ing. Florian Podszus is in the finals

IPH | With his research on speech control in automated guided vehicles (AGV), Dr.-Ing. Florian Podszus was in the finals of the Science Award for Supply Chain Management. The IPH alumnus presented his research results at the 35th International Supply Chain Conference.

Is it possible to realize speaker-independent speech control in automated guided systems? When does noise become noticeable? Up to which interaction time is speech control attractive? These are some of the questions Dr.-Ing. Florian Podszus dealt with in his doctoral thesis at the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover (IPH) gGmbH. The findings of his application-oriented research work were honoured by the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) in Berlin as a contribution to digitalisation in supply chain management.
At the 35th International Supply Chain Conference, the three best candidates competing for the Science Award for Supply Chain Management presented their research results. Podszus pointed out that speech-controlled human-machine interaction is realizable in automated guided vehicles. He explained how cognitive information processing influences the work results of the user. By means of electroencephalography, the researcher investigated the effect of attention and relaxation on the output.
