Newsletter No. 22 / March 2019

Dear Readers,

Easter weekend is fast approaching, making you wish that all preparations are done automatically. Automation is a helpful and resource-efficient technology used in many fields of application — the reason why this issue focuses on automated procedures and manufacturing processes.

For example, IFW and project partners are jointly developing a service concept for an automated creation of simulation models. Within the scope of a research project, IPH researchers are dealing with the automation of additive manufacturing processes. match wants to overcome automation constraints that came up with the use of fibre-reinforced plastics in automotive lightweight construction. ITA is developing an ultra-fast assembly technology for electronic components.

Easter is a welcome occasion to meet family. The modular learning factory is the place where science meets practice: In a workshop on production controlling, IFA shows the potential of data-based real-time evaluations and intelligent support systems.

We hope you enjoy reading the new issue!
