Newsletter No. 24 / September 2019

Dear readers,

The winter term will start in a few days, bringing along many changes. The new Mechanical Engineering Campus has been inaugurated, the future home of the entire faculty, and a new institute has been established – an exciting development for all of us. At the same time, we mourn an exceptional scientist, who deceased this summer, and look back with great respect on his lifetime achievements.

In this newsletter, we also throw a glance at the future of production technology: We report on 3D-printed conductive tracks, pressure measurement based on magnetism and soft and flexible robots.

Enjoy reading our report!

Minimal pressure masured based on magnetism

IMPT | Classical gas pressure cannot be measured in this way – but the deformation of an elastic membrane. A measurement based on magnetism is possible when hard magnetic particles are embedded in the membrane. This is proved by experiments made at the Institute of Micro Production Technology (IMPT).
