LZH | Individually shaped earmolds are already commercially available, but do not take into account the varying tissue hardness in the ear canal. In a joint project on multi-material printing, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. works on hearing aids with customized hardness zones.

PZH/IPH | Since 2015 the Mittelstand 4.0 Centre of Excellence „Mit uns digital!“ informs SMEs in Lower Saxony and Bremen about the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation. Now the funding from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs was renewed.

IPH | With his research on speech control in automated guided vehicles (AGV), Dr.-Ing. Florian Podszus was in the finals of the Science Award for Supply Chain Management. The IPH alumnus presented his research results at the 35th International Supply Chain Conference.

IFUM | IFUM uses thermomechanical process control to produce thin-walled gear rims. Within the scope of the joint research project “Lightweight Forging”, such gear rims are combined to weight- and efficiency-optimized gear wheels used for gearboxes in cars.

IW | The Division Joining and Surface Technology (FORTIS) of the Institute of Materials Science (IW) organizes in cooperation with the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) the workshop “Modern Coating Methods” taking place on 6 and 7 November 2018 in Witten.

LZH | More and more high school graduates are applying for a Voluntary Scientific Year (FWJ) at the LZH. Nine successful applicants are actively involved in LZH projects until the end of August 2019 - for example, in the field of optical systems for space.

IW/IFW | The quality of a component is dependent on its subsurface properties. However, their process-reliable definition can only be reached by component-specific production control. By the use of soft sensors and a learning process model, the production system shall modify process parameters autonomously.

IFW | What does digitalisation mean and how can new work tasks be understood? There are many open questions, but employees often find it difficult to match job and continuing education. To find a remedy, researchers from Hannover are presently developing an online-based learning platform.

LZH | During the EuroBLECH 2018, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. will be opening the labs for visitors on 25 October 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In live demonstrations, the research institute will be showing application examples for the laser material processing of the future.

IPH | On 20 September, the institutes of the Zuse Foundation opened their doors to politics. At the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover (IPH) gGmbH, the Hanoverian SPD Member of the German Bundestag Fahimi learnt more about research in production technology.
