Aleksandr Zaitsev, who studied Mechanical Engineering, is actually doing his doctorate at Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPBSTU), one of the most coveted universities in Russia. In 2015, he has already been working as visiting scientist at IFUM. “The exchange is very helpful for my dissertation “, says the 29-year old. “I am investigating the plastic behaviour of a forging die during the forming process.“
During his stay as visiting scientist, Aleksandr Zaitsev worked in the team Material Characterization and Simulation. The research results were presented in a scientific paper dealing with the compression of metal powder. “Since Aleksandr has achieved very good results, we wanted to continue our cooperation“, says Irfan Malik from IFUM.
In January 2017, Aleksandr Zaitsev therefore headed again from Saint Petersburg to Hannover, contributing for four months to the Collaborative Research Centre 653. The next paper is already in preparation – a thermo-mechanical study on forging dies manufactured in a powder metallurgy process.
