"Professor Wiendahl has turned logistics into a science and played an important role in the development of factory planning on the national as well as on the international level." This is how Professor Peter Nyhuis describes his predecessor and his importance in science and academic teaching.
After his studies of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen, where he also received his PhD and wrote his habilitation thesis, and followed by some years in industry, Hans-Peter Wiendahl returned to university. In 1979, he was appointed to professorship in Hannover and became Head of the Institute of Production Systems and Logistics (IFA). His numerous books and publications include reference works, such as "Betriebsorganisation für Ingenieure" and "Handbuch der Fabrikplanung" as well as the CIRP keynote paper on changeability.
"To this day, IFA’s concern is to continue the success of Professor Wiendahl", says Professor Nyhuis. "We are wishing him all the best for his 80th birthday."
