For more than five years, researchers from Hannover and Dortmund have successfully been working on various joint projects – for example within the scope of the Collaborative Research Center Transregio (CRC/TR) 73. The Institute of Forming Technology and Machines (IFUM) develops new methods for sheet metal massive forming and investigates them by experiments. Afterwards, the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Construction (IUL) develops a simulation model for mapping realistically whether components were locally damaged by the forming process. In the end, the Institute of Materials Science (IW) examines heavily stressed areas by microstructural analysis.
