Outstanding research with practical relevance for small and medium-sized enterprises: These are the criteria of the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) when selecting the “IGF Project of the Year“. Every year, AiF supports about 1,500 IGF projects, disbursing funds of around 140 million euros. The best project is awarded the Otto von Guericke Award.
Two researchers of the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover gGmbH (IPH) are in the finals: Sarah Uttendorf and Professor Dr. Ludger Overmeyer will attend the award ceremony in Berlin on 15 December 2016.
Within the scope of the project “Roadmaps for Automated Guided Vehicle Systems", the researchers have developed an algorithm that automatically generates roadmaps for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) – in just a few minutes. In the past, the generation of roadmaps was a very time-consuming and extensive manual process. With the help of the new algorithm, it is much easier and faster for SMEs to generate roadmaps for automated guided vehicles.
