Liubov Marchuk works as a PhD student at the National Technical University in Kyiv – the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. There she conducts research in the Department of Automation of Electrical and Mechatronic Complexes.
Her research focuses on mathematically modeling the energy efficiency of a pneumatically operated percussive rock destruction system. After three years of work in this area, she has submitted a patent based on her work. She spent five months at the University of Lorraine in France, where she carried out further studies for her doctoral thesis.
Prior to the defense of her dissertation in 2024, she is currently completing a three-month research stay at the Institute of Assembly Technology (match). She wants to get to explore new areas of research and open up new perspectives for her future career.
Liubov Marchuk’s visit began in October with the annual summer school of the SPP2100 “Soft Material Robotic Systems”, where she gained her first insights into the topics of soft robotics. She is currently working on the modeling of origami soft actuators. Her goal is to develop and evaluate mechanisms for the selective stiffening of the actuators.
The match team is looking forward to the scientific exchange and the promising collaboration with her.
