Professor Berend Denkena has been a member of the WGP for 15 years. He has been its vice-president until the end of 2017. On 1 January 2018, he took over the presidency from his predecessor Professor Eberhard Abele of TU Darmstadt, now heading the renowned and well-connected academic society for the next two years.
Digitalisation, climate change, academic teaching
With regard to the central topic "Digitalisation of Production", “the WGP commitment is outstanding”, says Denkena, finding altogether "functional and trendsetting structures and topics".
Asked about his personal goals for the next two years of his term of office, he mentions three issues that are particularly close to his heart: "As the president of this network, I would like to promote the development of excellent academic teaching; furthermore, I want to make sure that production technology contributes to the "2-degree climate target", and I would like to see us intensify our exchange with neighbouring academic societies".
Association of production engineering professors
The German Academic Society for Production Engineering (WGP) is an association of leading German production engineering professors. 64 members from 37 university and Fraunhofer institutes represent some 2,000 scientists in production engineering.
