The Niedersachsen-Technikum (Lower Saxony Technical Studies) is aimed at high school graduate girls with an interest in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). During the 6-months program, they can find out if a scientific-technical career meets their interests.
A friend told Tabea Karg about the program, and Linda Thies heard about it at a school event. From September 2018 to February 2019, the two completed their Niedersachsen-Technikum at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH). Every week, they spent four days at the LZH and one day at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover.
In her LZH research group, Tabea Karg learned how lasers fight weeds. Linda Thies focused on the 3D-printing of polymers. Both would definitely recommend the program to other STEM-interested students, and are planning to study a STEM subject.
