Dear Readers,
In this issue, you'll find lots of smart minds who will start their own business or have won an award for their ideas. One IFW start-up is developing a mobile machine and LZH researchers are planning to become self-employed with the manufacturing of compact, glass-fiber based components for cutting-edge laser systems. Moreover, IPH scientists have been nominated for the Otto von Guericke Award. Smart ideas - like how factories of the future can produce climate-neutrally - are explained within the lecture series "Production and Society", that will be continued in 2017.
Furthermore, we have the latest news from research for you: We can inform you about modern fire detectors, dynamic layouts for XXL products and strategies for industry 4.0 as well as robotics, belt conveyors and thermally sprayed coatings.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue!
