The summer workshop is much sought-after by German students: "Every year, there are three to four times as many applicants as places", says Björn Niemann of ITA, the one who is in charge of the programme organization, together with his colleague Nikia Shchekutin. This year, ten students of Leibniz Universität Hannover had the chance to take part in the workshop and received a DAAD research grant.
At the Polytechnic University, they were welcomed by Professor Vyacheslav Shkodyrev. He is Head of the partner institute in Russia, offering the Master programme "International Mechatronics" in cooperation with ITA. The Master programme is entirely held in English language, giving students the opportunity to study one year in Russia and one year in Germany.
Apart from presentations, the summer workshop also included a tutorial and a company visit. Moreover, cultural highlights were not to be missed, as for example the Winter Palace, the former official residence of the Russian monarchs which today houses the Hermitage Museum, one of the most important art museums in the world. After one week in St Petersburg, everybody agreed: Anytime again!
