Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Bergmann has been honoured with the F.W. Taylor Medal for his outstanding research work on the basic principles for the design of cutting edge roundings of cutting tools. The award is the most renowned prize given to young academics in production engineering worldwide.
The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) awards the F.W. Taylor Medal every year since 1958. Prize winners must not be older than 35 years and must have presented their innovative findings on the occasion of a CIRP General Assembly. Dr Bergmann received his prize for his research paper and his presentation held at the General Assembly in Tokyo: He presented a new model for the selection of suitable cutting edge roundings. The Taylor Medal Selection Committee honoured his paper and presentation as the best out of 100 research works.
Dr Bergmann is Head of Department at the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) of Leibniz Universität Hannover. He studied Mechanical Engineering and did his doctorate at IFW.
