PZH | The latest novelties regarding the production of hybrid high-performance components will be presented to specialists and executives on 11 April 2018 at the Hannover Centre for Production Technology (PZH). On the occasion of the Industrial Colloquium, researchers of the Collaborative Research Centre “Tailored Forming” will talk to industry experts about their latest results.

LZH | So far, the on-site welding, cutting or material removal of large and heavy components was only possible within narrow limits. The Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) and the SET Ltd. have now further developed a new mobile laser processing system to a prototype.

IFW | The Head of the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) has been the new President of the German Academic Society for Production Engineering (WGP) since 1 January 2018. One of his goals is to consider climate change more strongly in production technology.

IMPT | Novel sensor concepts are supposed to facilitate strain and temperature measurement in future vehicle tires. In cooperation with Continental Reifen GmbH, IMPT is developing production concepts to implement micro components into rubber, which is a quite unusual substrate material.

LZH/IPH | What is possible with additive manufacturing processes today? Where and how are they used already? Experts from the economy and science shall answer these and other questions about 3D printing on 25 January 2018 on the Exhibition Grounds in Hannover.

IFUM | Welding and deep drawing in a single step: Thanks to this key technology, three researchers of IFUM received the Otto von Guericke Award 2017. With this research award, the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) honours the best research project of the year.

IPH/IFA | Awkward bending, lifting heavy items, working overhead: Such movements may cause permanent health problems. As a preventive measure, researchers of IPH and IFA developed an ergonomics assessment tool for assembly workplaces: 3D cameras capture unhealthy movements automatically.

match | Passivity pays off – also in robotics. Researchers of the Institute of Assembly Technology (match) are currently developing systems with passive joints: Compared to conventional parallel robots, the advantages are higher flexibility, lower weight, reduced costs and easy reconfigurability.

ITA | Researchers from Hanover have developed a communication module which is able to store and process component-relevant data and communicate it to its environment. The autonomous system is supplied by a tiny solar cell. Its overall size is only a quarter the size of a sugar cube.
