The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz University Hannover is pleased to announce the appointment of Benjamin Bergmann as an Associate Member of CIRP.
CIRP is the world’s leading organization in the field of production engineering research. By promoting research and development in this field, CIRP contributes to environmentally sustainable global prosperity. It thus supports a sustainable economy for the well-being of society, the economy and nature. Its Associate Members are scientists with high potential and are typically elected for a period of three years with the possibility of renewal.
Benjamin Bergmann is a scientist at IFW and makes outstanding contributions to research in production engineering. His research focuses on the development of new cutting tools and manufacturing processes, sensory components in machine tools, and the application of machine learning in manufacturing technology. Through his work, for example, cutting tools can be specifically matched to the material so that an increase in productivity and tool life can be achieved. This increase in tool life thus also enables the saving of resources, such as cobalt and tungsten. By reducing the use of these critical materials in tooling, his work makes a valuable contribution to global sustainability goals.
IFW sincerely congratulates him on this prestigious award and looks forward to his continued contributions to cutting-edge research in the field of production engineering.
