IFA/IPH | Professor Hans-Peter Wiendahl has shaped production research in Hanover over decades. The long-time head of IFA and co-founder of IPH died at the age of 81 years. What remains are not only books.

LZH | How to gain maximum benefit of Additive Manufacturing? A decisive factor is the construction. Method knowledge for the planning, design and implementation will be shared at the workshop “Konstruktion für die Additive Fertigung” in Hannover on 17 September 2019.

LZH | Since 01 July 2019, Dr.-Ing. Peter Jäschke is heading the Production and Systems Department of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH). He thus succeeded Dr.-Ing. Oliver Suttmann, who is now working in industry.
- Research
LZH |Modern materials give passenger cabins a high safety standard. The only drawback: With conventional life-saving equipment, car body parts often cannot be cut quickly enough in case of an emergency. The solution: an innovative mobile laser device for complex accident scenarios.
- Research
IFUM | Undesirable vibrations can be generated by the transfer systems used for the fully automated component transfer between several subsequent forming processes. For this reason, researchers at IFUM are developing a system that minimizes the vibrations occurring during transport, thus increasing the productivity of the forming systems.

LZH | For the LZH, June 2019 is all about the IdeenExpo (Hannover, 15 to 23 June) and the LASER fair (Munich, 24 to 27 June). At the IdeenExpo, lasers will be melting moondust. Afterwards, at the LASER fair, the LZH will be showing, among others, a laser processing head for internal cylindrical structures.
- Research
IFW, ITV | To increase the efficiency of combustion engines, researchers of IFW and ITV are doing research on how to reduce friction losses in engines. For this purpose, they are machining micro dimples in cylinder liners to investigate their friction-reducing properties.

PZH | The collaborative research centre (CRC) at Leibniz University Hannover has been extended for a further four years. The German Research Foundation will provide around ten million euros of additional funding.
- Research
IW | Corundum blasting used as a pre-treatment of coating surfaces is more and more replaced by machining processes. Researchers are developing an innovative combination of processes for the form-locked bonding of thermally sprayed coatings.
