The magazine for production research from Hanover

IPH | On 20 September, the institutes of the Zuse Foundation opened their doors to politics. At the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover (IPH) gGmbH, the Hanoverian SPD Member of the German Bundestag Fahimi learnt more about research in production technology.
IPH | Hybrid structures used in automotive lightweight design are composed of different materials as well as of bulk and sheet metal parts. Hybrid compound forging is a method to create a material bond between a steel sheet and a bulk aluminium part already during the forming process.
ITA | For the fifth time in a row, ITA hosts the symposium on “Automated Systems and Technologies” (AST) in cooperation with the Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University. The conference takes place on 27 and 28 September 2018 at the Hannover Centre for Production Technology (PZH).
IMPT | Discovering and experiencing technology: This is the topic of the experience day “Mädchen und Technik – MuT” (meaning Tech needs Girls). On 19 November 2018, schoolgirls from 13 years and older will have the opportunity to discover STEM subjects at the PZH in Garbsen. The online registration process has started already.
IFW | Conventional industrial robots are not suitable for use in machining processes. However, most recent research results present mechanisms that increase the positioning accuracy and stiffness of robots, making them usable in metal machining processes. Research at IFW increased the stiffness tenfold.
IFA | High potential for work and employment, strong infrastructure and dense production networks: The advantages in metropolitan areas. Researchers are currently developing a trendsetting planning approach that allows companies to identify and use them for their own benefit.
IMPT | Micro structures have a lot of advantages, but their creation is a complex process. This has motivated IMPT and IFW to develop a method for the manufacture of high-precision micro grinding tools with a flexible bond matrix: one process for two types of grinding wheels.
LZH | Additively manufactured parts offer many advantages, but they must be designed differently than before. Which methods are suitable? And how can they be integrated into existing processes? Answers will be given in the workshop “Konstruktion für die Additive Fertigung” on 26 September 2018 in the LZH.
LZH/IPH | Additive processes are revolutionizing industrial production. With the “Forum Additive Fertigung” that will be held in Hannover on 12 September 2018, Niedersachsen ADDITIV – Zentrum für Additive Fertigung offers a platform for exchange on best practice examples, research topics and business models.
