The magazine for production research from Hanover

IMPT | Thinner, more accurate and more versatile – these are the demands on future sensors. IMPT scientists work on a technology to deposit sensors without any intermediate layers directly on components of arbitrary size.
PZH/IPH | The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy appointed five centres to help support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the development and adoption of Industry 4.0 know-how. The joint proposal of PZH and IPH is the one which will be put into practice first. What is the benefit for craft and SMEs?
IPH | To reduce electricity costs, companies do not necessarily have to spend a lot of money. At the IPH, researchers have developed a method that simply through smart manufacturing control reduces energy costs to a considerable extent – by making use of energy price fluctuations.
PZH | “PZH Engineering Solutions” – the subtitle of TEWISS Technik und Wissen GmbH. Jan Jocker, the new Managing Director, is setting priority on this solution-oriented attitude: “We are providing support to university and companies right from the start.”
IW | Those who investigate metal under the microscope may discover amazing things: sometimes shining vivid colors, sometimes pictures of kangaroos or dolphins. Two staff members of the Institute of Materials Science (IW) have been awarded for their exceptional pictures.
LZH | In the field of laser technology, the appeal of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) goes far beyond the region. Students from all over the world benefit from the excellent facilities and the international network of the research institute.
IFUM/IW/IUL | Teamwork is the road to success – research is no exception. The Hannover institutes IFUM and IW are in close cooperation with their colleagues at the Dortmund institute IUL, jointly developing new manufacturing technologies such as sheet metal massive forming.
LZH/PZH | Gaining insights into the professional life of engineers and physicists, and making contacts to institutes at an early stage – the Voluntary Scientific Year (FWJ) at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) and the Hannover Centre for Production Technology (PZH) offers these opportunities.
