The future of production technology

match | The construction industry is currently facing three significant challenges: workforce shortage, low productivity and high environmental impact. To counter these, researchers at the match develop algorithms for robot-based additive manufacturing of near-net-shape concrete components.
IPH | In cooperation with Otto Fuchs KG, IPH is researching methods to predict and avoid thin flash during flashless forging of aluminum. The development of target-oriented sealing concepts should significantly increase process efficiency in the future.
IMPT/IQ | In order to measure the gravitational acceleration g due to gravity with high precision, scientists are developing miniaturized quantum gravimeters. These could be used on satellites and in research rockets, to study climate change or for earthquake warning.
IMPT | The magnetic information platform (MIP), developed by a start-up from the Institute of Micro Production Technology (IMPT), is significantly more robust than RFID. The new technology can withstand high temperatures and harsh environments and can be read through metallic layers.
LZH/IPH | How can additive process chains be automated and print quality monitored? How is a component made of metal and plastic created in multi-material printing? Scientists from Lower Saxony ADDITIV have been researching this and more in the past three years.
IW | Nickel-based superalloys are typical high-temperature materials and often used for turbine blades in jet engines. The Institute of Materials Science (IW) is investigating the microstructure of these materials and its changes under stress.
