The people behind the research projects

LZH | Dr.-Ing. André Springer becomes a professor: At the University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen-Lippe he will research and teach in the field of additive manufacturing. He had been working in the Materials and Processes Department at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) for 10 years.
IFA | On 11 February 2018, an outstanding scientist will celebrate his 80th birthday: Professor Dr.-Ing. E.h. mult. Dr. sc. h.c. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Wiendahl has been Head of the Institute of Production Systems and Logistics (IFA) for almost two and a half decades, shaping the future of production research.
IFW | The Head of the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) has been the new President of the German Academic Society for Production Engineering (WGP) since 1 January 2018. One of his goals is to consider climate change more strongly in production technology.
IFUM | Welding and deep drawing in a single step: Thanks to this key technology, three researchers of IFUM received the Otto von Guericke Award 2017. With this research award, the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) honours the best research project of the year.
LZH/PZH | Research without a university degree: The Voluntary Scientifc Year (FWJ) makes a direct entry into research possible for A-level students. At the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) and at the Produktionstechnisches Zentrum (PZH), the seventh FWJ generation started in September.
IPH | Manager with 28 years: Benjamin Küster’s professional development proves that scientists working with research institutions can move up the corporate ladder very quickly. As from October 2017, the industrial engineer is heading the division Production Automation at the Institut für Integrierte Produktion Hannover (IPH) gGmbH.
IFUM | Research across borders: Aleksandr Zaitsev is working as visiting scientist at the Institute of Forming Technology and Machines (IFUM). The focus of the PhD student from Saint Petersburg is on the simulation of a thermo-mechanical forming process.
